The Center for Education Policy Analysis at the University of Colorado-Denver has issued a new report card on Colorado’s P-20 education system. Based on the spotty grades the state received, its parents – that’s you, voters – needs to bring in a team of tutors, and fast.
“ Colorado is a naturally gifted state that does not seem to be living up to its potential,” begins the section titled “Teacher’s Comments.” The report goes on to give the state an overall grade of B for achievement and D for effort. Detailed grades for early childhood education, K-12 and higher ed appear on separate pages.
This CEPA report card is less snarky than earlier versions produced by a coalition of researchers and foundations. But it gets an A for thoroughness and even-handedness.
